DAVIDMCGLYNN.COM (FINALLY) UPDATED!

And it's about time! When we launched this site a few years ago, we figured that updating the site every 5-7 years or so would be sufficient. Boy were we wrong! In a complete reversal we shall now endeavor to update the site the moment we have something new to post, or when we have the time.

So what’s new on the site? Perhaps the most exciting developement is the complete update of the NORMAL(?) portfolio section. This collection of photographs should favorably answer that nagging question that many of you have had: ‘Yes, but can he take a normal picture?’. Here, in spades, is your answer. Go there now! We have also updated the COLLAGE & FIGURINE portfolios to reflect more recent work. The real news, however, is the addition of two brand spanking new portfolios. ANALOG DECAY is a newish series of personal images David has been working on, for which he has no satisfactory explanation, except that he likes the way they look. Go see ANALOG DECAY. Over the years David has photographed various flora, mostly for personal visual consumption. FLOWERS is a ‘hand picked’ selection from this vast collection. Go there now!

STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY NEWS

A MESSAGE FROM THE BUREAU OF CONTENT CONTROL: Here at David McGlynn Photography, we love stock photography. Nothing gets us more excited than sitting on our hands while making money! Just about every image on this website is available for licensing, either thru Getty Images or directly thru David McGlynn. Feel free to contact us with any licensing questions. A sampling of images available directly from Getty Images can be seen in the STOCK portfolio. Go there now! You can view all 400+ images online at gettyimages.com by clicking on this link: Getty Images.

What is next for davidmcglynn.com in this wild wooly world of Stock Photography? Our long range plan is to provide a fully transactional stock section on this website, which would house a large, fully searchable collection of images. Gentleman, start your scanners!

STUDIO MOVE

We are pleased to announce our new business address:

David McGlynn Photography
1825 Riverside Drive #5E
New York, NY 10034
212-569-4076

We have relocated the studio in the lower level of our condo (read: basement). Yes, it’s smaller, but it is nicely finished, and the commute is now down to eleven seconds. That spells increased worker productivity, until it is nap time. While we have indeed lost some studio space, we have gained a big fridge, a kitchen, dining room, living room, and several places to nap. FYI: we will not be shooting any cars in here anytime soon.

McDIGITAL TRANSITION CONTINUES

We are happy to report significant progress in our ongoing digital transition here at David McGlynn Photography. For example, just about all recent jobs have been shot & produced digitally. Here are a few examples of 100% digital collages: WHERE ARE WE?, ACCUSED, GET BACK IN, & FASTRAK. We have recently purchased one of them fancy high-end film scanners to tackle the mountain of stock images sitting next to us, here in the bunker. Of course, film will always have a special place in our hearts, as it does on our teeth.

MCGLYNN CANCELS McGLYPH

The artists currently known as David McGlynn has officially cancelled plans for becoming known as the symbol (AKA ‘McGlyph’) of the photographer formerly known as David McGlynn. Known as the McGlyph, the symbol was used briefly until lawyers for the artist formerly known as the Symbol, AKA the artist formerly known as Prince (now known simply as ‘Prince’) issued a cease & desist order. We caught up with Mr. McGlynn at a tattoo removal specialist’s office where he was having the McGlyph removed from his cheek. Said he: ‘If it ain’t good enough for Prince it ain’t good enough for me’.

DAVE’S WORLD OF MUSIC

Everyone needs a hobby. As many of you now, mine is recorded music. It borders on obsession, just south of compulsion, and is just a stones throw from addiction. Over the years I have collected hundreds of peculiar vinyl treats, as much for the music as for the album cover art. If you would like to see a sampling of favorite covers, please click Album Cover Art. For years I toiled under this weighty mountain of records: listening, cataloging, and making endless whimsical mixes on those nefarious cassette tapes. All that is (mostly) behind me. Now I toil under a mountain of CD’s and MP3 files: listening, cataloging and making mixes on nefarious CD-ROMs. And while I am usually quite content, cloistered here in the bunker, playing music for myself & my goldfish, I have often felt the need for another outlet, and have indeed found one: Ladies & Gentlemen - I am a DJ at the Ding Dong Lounge! Located in the fashionable upper West side, The Ding Dong Lounge is the only bar that matters north of 96th Street. What do I play? Take a look at a Typical Playlist. If you would like to receive my DJ schedule, please Contact Us.

FAMILY DENTISTRY NEWS

The Tooth Fairy has recently visited Ella four times! Altogether, Ella has just amassed enough money to pay for her first 30 minutes of college! In a related story, the Tooth Devil has recently visited some of David's molars (sorry, no photos were available at press time). Here is a picture of those lovable Weasels.
